Mens Sexual Health service hero

What is men’s sexual health?

Men’s sexual health refers to the way you feel, function, and perform during sex. Men’s sexual issues, such as erectile dysfunction (ED), are common, especially with increasing age. The good news is that simple solutions are within reach at Carolinas Health and Wellness to restore men’s sexual health.

What are the risk factors for men’s sexual health problems?

Some of the many factors that can contribute to decreased sexual functioning and desire in men include:

  • Hormone imbalance
  • Aging
  • Genetics
  • Ongoing stress
  • Weight challenges
  • Trauma
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Psychological issues
  • Medical conditions

Do you suffer with any of the following?

  • Decreased sensation & pleasure
  • Inability to achieve firmness during relations
  • Difficulty maintaining firmness until your partner is satisfied
  • Trouble maintaining firmness during relations
  • Decrease in size (Often seen with aging)
  • An angle that causes pain or inability to have relations (Peyronie's disease)
  • Family relations strained because of any of the above problems
Then you may benfit from a free consultation to learn how if the Priapus-shot (P-shot) could benefit you.

Shockwave therapy and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, called He-Shots, are noninvasive procedures that can dramatically improve men’s sexual health.

What are the benefits of PRP and shockwave therapy for men’s sexual health?

Some of the many benefits you can expect by choosing PRP or shockwave therapy at Carolinas Health and Wellness to improve men’s sexual health include:

  • New tissue and blood vessel growth
  • Improved blood circulation in the penis
  • Stronger, firmer erections
  • Increased penis sensation and pleasure
  • Improved sexual performance
  • Increased sexual stamina
  • Greater arousal
  • Better overall sexual performance
  • Decreased prostate discomfort
  • Decreased urinary incontinence

Urinary incontinence, which makes it difficult to control urination, can happen to men due to aging or medical conditions. He-Shots and shockwave treatment can relieve unpleasant urinary symptoms in men.

What should I expect during P-Shots and shockwave therapy?

Depending on your personalized needs, specialists at Carolinas Health and Wellness could recommend one of the following treatments:

P-Shots

If you’re a candidate for P-Shots, your provider takes a tiny sample of blood from a vein in your arm. They spin it in a FDA approved centrifuge to extract plasma - the part of your blood that is rich in platelets — from the rest of the blood. They then numb your penis so you don’t feel any pain and inject PRP into it to stimulate new cell generation. There is little to no recovery time and results are almost immediate with results lasting at least 18 months.

Shockwave therapy

Carolinas Health and Wellness providers also offer noninvasive and low-intensity shockwave therapy to treat men’s sexual health issues. Your provider uses a small, wand-like device to emit painless sound waves to stimulate tissue regeneration, increase penis blood flow, grow new blood vessels, improve erections, and decrease sexual dysfunction.

Possible benefits of the P-Shot:

  • Non-surgical
  • Drug free
  • Enjoy sexual relations on the same day of procedure
  • Increased sensitivity
  • Larger girth and length
  • Almost instantaneous results
  • Fast and relatively painless
  • Better, healthier sex
  • Improved relations and stronger family

The Priapus Shot® , also known as the P-Shot®, was created to treat men with Erectile Dysfunction, Peyronie’s Disease, modest penis enlargement and overall improvement in Sexual Function.

Here are the Steps of the Priapus Shot®

  • Numbing lidocaine cream is applied to the penis.
  • Blood is drawn from the arm (just like when you have a blood test done).
  • The blood is put in a centrifuge
  • The platelets are transferred into another tube where a few drops of calcium chloride solution trick the platelets into thinking that they are in the body and the body has been injured.
  • The platelets release growth factors into the liquid of the tube.
  • The liquid is transferred into a syringe and injected into the penis using a tiny needle and in a way that distributes the growth factors in the proper way.

Possible Benefits Of The P-Shot®

  • Stronger, Firmer Erections
  • Easier to Achieve and Maintain Erections (i.e. Improved Sexual Stamina)
  • Increased Penile Length and Girth
  • Improvement in or Resolution of Painful, Dysfunctional Penile Curvature from Peyronie’s Disease
  • Resolution of Penile Pain with Erection
  • Increased Sensitivity in the Penis
  • Better Overall Blood Flow to the Penis
  • Improvement in Intimacy and Relationships
  • Decreased need for, or reduced dosages of ED medications, saving you both money and the risks of taking medications.

The P-Shot® procedure will take approximately 45 minutes.

Is There Any Downtime?

There is no recovery time with the P-Shot®. You are able to go back to work, normal physical activity or even intercourse immediately.

What Are The Side Effects Of The P-Shot®?

There are minimal to no side effects with the P-Shot®.

Will The P-Shot® Hurt?

The P-Shot does not hurt. A very strong topical numbing cream is used first and a penile anesthetic block is performed, resulting in a painless procedure.

What To Expect After The P-Shot®

Best results occur in men that regularly use a penis pump afterwards on a regular basis to improve blood flow and encourage improved regeneration of blood vessels and nerves after the procedure. Results will vary based on the underlying pathology, tissue integrity and and natural aging process of the patient, but in general most men can expect results to last between 1-3 years. Some men enjoy more frequent injections to enhance the effects of the treatment.

Shock Wave Therapy is also often added as an adjunct treatment to the P-Shot® and can further improve results.

The Price for the P-Shot procedure starts at $1,900. Insurance does not cover the cost of the procedure.
